The 2008 "world crisis" seems to be only a western problem, since Africa first trading partner became China development started to affect positively the continent. Angola experienced an incredible rise since 2002, the year of the end of the Civil War that lasted 28 years. During the civil war Apartheid South Africa and Portugal fought against Angola and his dependency from the West, and in the last phase the only fighter was a US backed rebel group. Angola won and now its main allies are China, Brazil and Russia. In the next 10 years the country will be between the richest of Africa, together with Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt and Kenya. Senegal has commissioned the construction of the country's largest road project since independence in 1960. The contract was awarded to a Chinese company that expressed confidence that construction of the Ila Touba highway should be completed in under 4 years.
China has invested hugely in infrastructure construction in eastern Africa. Many projects built by Chinese companies will boost resource flows and economic bonds among major economies in the region. The longest railway tunnel in North Africa and the second longest in Africa has been completed. The 7.3km-long tunnel, which sits in Khemis Miliana, 120 km southeast of Algiers, is built by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC).
With a total length of 480 km, the Standard Gauge Railway connects Kenya’s largest cities, Nairobi and Mombasa. The SGR project is using high Chinese modern equipment and standards, the management of the project by the Chinese firm will enable the completion of the project in record time. As the first time that the standard technology has been introduced in Kenya and Africa at large, a lot of "first of it’s kinds" were setted.
A Chinese funded standard gauge railway construction project that connects the Nigerian federal capital Abuja with the country's central commercial hub Kaduna, is nearing completion and is expected to reduce road congestion and the time it takes to travel between the two points. The Abuja Kaduna line, scheduled to be completed by December 2014, is co-funded by the China Exim bank and the government of Nigeria. And as CCTV's Peter Wakaba reports this project is just one of many that are transforming lives in Nigeria.
After three years of construction, a Chinese-built toll road has opened on the island country of Jamaica. The project marks the biggest Chinese investment in the Caribbean to date and officials said there's more to come. CCTV America's Roee Ruttenberg reports from the Kingston, Jamaica.

A team of Ugandan military engineers is scheduled to travel to China where they will be trained in railway construction. The military officers will receive a three-month special training in construction of a Standard Gauge Railway. Uganda plans to construct a standard gauge railway line linking Kampala to Kenya. CGTN's special series on Kenya's Standard Gauge Railway: The East African country is about 10-thousand kilometres away from China. As far back as the ninth century, China was already trading with countries along Africa's east coast. Today, China is Kenya's biggest trading partner. But thanks to initiatives like the SGR, bilateral ties are deepening and spreading into other countries. During his stop in the Nigerian capital Abuja, Premier Li attended the 2014 World Economic Forum on Africa. He delivered a speech on China-Africa common development, saying that China will direct more financial assistance to the continent and expand cooperation in infrastructure construction.
Every week seemingly brings a new announcement of a Chinese-financed mega project somewhere in Africa. This week's announcement of a $5.8 billion power station in Nigeria that will be financed and built by Chinese state-owned companies is typical of the scope and scale of Chinese lending activity in Africa. And with the Chinese money spigot opening even wider as Beijing ramps up spending on its hugely ambitiously One Belt, One Road (OBOR) global trading initiative, the Chinese are seemingly more eager than ever to loan money. All this Chinese money must be so tempting for Africa's cash-starved, infrastructure-challenged states but they should proceed cautiously warn a growing number of analysts. "Over-investing in physical infrastructure without establishing corresponding go...
The longest railway tunnel in the history of Algeria is on course for completion. The construction of the Gantas railway tunnel is part of the project of doubling the track with rectification of the railway line between the stations of El Affroun and Khémis Miliana of the Algiers-Oran line. The total length of this two-tube tunnel is 14.68 km. The left side is 7.3 km long, and the right side is slightly longer 7.355 km. Currently, 13.70 km have been dug, representing a completion rate of 93.2%. The work is being done by China's CRCC / CCECC Group and is expected to be complete in July 2017.
A 2,425-meter-long highway tunnel was successfully cut through Thursday in Algeria, marking a milestone for construction of the mega highway linking the south and north of the North Africa country. The T2 tunnel, the longest highway tunnel in Algeria, is built by CSCEC, China's state-run construction and engineering giant. The North-South highway is a dual three-lane way linking the capital Algiers and the border town of In-Guezzam. According to the contract, CSCEC will be responsible for 53 km of the mega road, including more than 40 bridges and several tunnels, which is the most challenging and complicated section of the road due to the mountainous landscape. Despite the difficulties, the company said it pays a great deal of attention to the environment, and intends to maintain th...
